ANDROS
ISLAND
A mere 150 miles from Miami lies one of the most extensive saltwater habitats
in existence. Andros is often referred to as the "Bonefishing Capital of the
World." Anglers need only look at a map of Andros to understand
why this destination commands so much respect. This largest island of the Bahamas is
sparsely settled along its eastern
side. Much of Andros is a maze of serpentine creeks, channels, and flats
populated by uncountable numbers of bonefish ranging in size from three to
six pound average up to monsters in the double digits.

Additionally, vast sections of the
west side and the south end of this island are
remote and little explored. Although traditionally known for bonefish, Andros is enjoying
an increasing reputation for tarpon action. Permit frequent the north and
northwest sections of Andros.
